Arena Staff Volunteers for Beach Cleanup

With public service in mind, Pechanga Arena San Diego staff completed a beach cleanup in Ocean Beach this month removing 500 pieces of plastic, 700 Styrofoam pieces, 1,000 used cigarettes, and one item that had us scratching our heads: a vinyl record, attached to a surfboard leash, attached to a bottle of lotion.

“I want to thank everyone who came out on Saturday to participate in the beach cleanup,” said Pechanga Arena San Diego Operations Manager Samson Liua. “I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to each of you for helping put on a successful clean up!”

In total, 65 participants dedicated 160 volunteer hours to this event, covering a 2-mile area.  Sixty pounds of trash and 40 pounds of recyclables were removed from the beach during the cleanup.

In partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego, venue security, ticket takers, ushers, porters, operations and administrative staff removed 2,353 pieces of trash from a San Diego beach, including that vinyl record contraption found by our security guard Marc.

“We can’t wait to get out there again. Giving back to the community members who spend their hard-earned dollars on entertainment is very fulfilling!”
