AEG Staff in San Diego Volunteer to Keep Beaches Clean

Pechanga Arena San Diego and Goldenvoice staff volunteered in June to assemble temporary trash and recycle bins to help keep San Diego beaches clean over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

In coordination with I Love A Clean San Diego, Janet Kelley, Tammy Hong, Kristi Reedy, Chris Biele, Heber Guajardo, Lea Swanson, and Kathleen Padilla volunteered for two hours at the Clean Beach Coalition Bin Assembly Facility on Wednesday, June 26. Janet, Tammy, Kristin, Chris, Heber, Lea, and Kathleen joined ILACSD and City of San Diego Parks & Rec staff to take action within their communities throughout San Diego County by assembling 85 temporary trash and recycling bins to be placed at Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and Mission Bay over the Fourth of July week and weekend.

“These volunteers served as a major line of defense for preventing litter and debris from washing into nearby waterways and ultimately out into the ocean,” said Natalia King, Recycling Programs Manager with I Love A Clean San Diego. “ILACSD hosts many cleanups and events throughout the year, and their successes all greatly depend on the participation of volunteers. Without the assistance of volunteers like these Pechanga Arena staff, who functioned as a positive example for others by demonstrating how much of a difference volunteers can personally make in San Diego communities, we would not be able to collect all the debris that we will during this busy holiday time.”

Coordinators at ILACSD said they appreciate this team’s dedication toward preserving the environment.
