Pechanga Arena Celebrates 60 Years With Mel Marcelo Exhibit

SAN DIEGO, CA – June 22, 2026 — Pechanga Arena San Diego today announced its sponsorship of a special exhibition honoring legendary San Diego artist Mel Marcelo at Comic-Con Museum, running from June 29, 2026 through March 2027. Timed to coincide with Comic-Con International, the exhibition will showcase a collection of original artwork created exclusively for historic concerts, sporting events, and cultural moments hosted at Pechanga Arena throughout the venue’s 60-year history.

The exhibition, which is a key element of Pechanga Arena’s 60th Anniversary celebration, will feature rare and original pieces celebrating decades of entertainment history tied to the iconic San Diego venue, offering fans and visitors an opportunity to experience the intersection of music, sports, pop culture, and local artistry during one of the city’s most celebrated annual events.

“This exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate not only the incredible legacy of Mel Marcelo, but also the lasting connection between art, entertainment, and community in San Diego,” said Ryan Golden, General Manager of Pechanga Arena San Diego for Legends Global, which manages the venue. “Mel’s work helped define the visual culture surrounding live events in our city for decades, and we’re honored to help bring that legacy to life during Comic-Con International and beyond.”

Known for his bold visual storytelling and unmistakable artistic style, Marcelo became a defining creative force within San Diego’s entertainment community. His work captured the spirit of live entertainment across generations and helped shape the visual identity of countless iconic events in the region. In recognition of his cultural impact and contributions to the arts community, the City of San Diego officially declared March 16, 2022 as “Mel Marcelo Day.”

The partnership reflects Pechanga Arena San Diego’s continued commitment to supporting local artists, preserving cultural history, and creating meaningful community-driven experiences as the venue celebrates its 60th Anniversary throughout 2026.
