As gas prices hold steady at record high prices and inflation continues to rise, Pechanga Arena San Diego will partner with Feeding San Diego for a food distribution event on Tuesday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon to support San Diego’s struggling families. Dubbed the Together Tour, the event Tuesday will be the arena’s 18th since beginning the monthly distributions during COVID-19 related shutdowns.
“ASM Global is proud to partner with Feeding San Diego and continue supporting these distributions even as we return to live events and fill up our calendar with concerts and sporting events in the arena,” said Pechanga Arena San Diego General Manager Steve Tadlock. “We are able to utilize our parking lot for a streamlined queueing and distribution operation that is efficient and easy for both the recipients and the Feeding San Diego staff and volunteers. It is a great community service use of the space, scheduled at times that are not impacted by our other ongoing event activity.”
Since February 2021, distributions by Feeding San Diego at Pechanga Arena San Diego have served more than 11,000 families and almost 40,000 people. Feeding San Diego has distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food, providing more than a million-and-a-half meals.
The Pechanga Arena site offers Feeding San Diego a unique opportunity to serve a high-volume of meals on a regular basis, especially as economic constraints continue to tighten working families.
“Pechanga Arena was the very first iconic San Diego venue to open their parking lot to Feeding San Diego’s Together Tour,” said Chief Strategy Officer Bob Kamensky. “These food distributions support the rising number of San Diegans that have found themselves in need of food assistance during the pandemic. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership that allows us to get nutritious food out into the community.”
