Pechanga Arena San Diego supported Feeding San Diego in distributing meals to more than 3,000 households, amounting to nearly 9,000 San Diegans receiving much-needed support.
The food distribution events held every Monday in February in the Pechanga Arena parking lot, were intended to support those in the hospitality industry. With many restaurant, hotel and tourism workers disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, families were appreciative for the support of Feeding San Diego.
The drive offered nutritious meals to keep families in these trying times.
“One out of eight workers in San Diego are related to the tourism industry: hotels, restaurants, entertainment parks. Things associated with the industry. Seventy-seven thousand of them are out of work or furloughed right now,” said Bob Kamensky, Chief Strategy Officer at Feeding San Diego.
